FACT SHEET FOR PARENTS OF STUDENTS AT PRIVATE SCHOOLS
Students in grades 3-12 are selected for supplementary instruction through Title I based on multiple objective criteria. All students must live in a Title I area. Title I status is determined by high poverty area public schools. The performance on a standardized test or other assessment tool is also used. Eligibility is determined by a point system based on standardized testing, teacher recommendations, and report cards/progress reports.
If the number of students eligible for Title I services is greater than can be served by the Title I staff, students with the greatest need are served first.
A meeting before the first marking period should take place in your school. At this time you will receive information about the Title I program in your school. You are strongly encouraged to communicate with your child’s Title I teacher should you have any questions or concerns.
Funds are allocated each year to encourage parent involvement. The funds may be used to pay for speakers, workshops or to purchase material for home use.
ACADEMIC COACHING. Your child may benefit from additional support by academic coaches who can help with issues such as test anxiety, organizational skills, etc…
FINE ARTS. Funding permitting, fine arts activities that supplement the Title I learning experience may also be provided.
